The St. Louis Cardinals are finalizing a trade to acquire star third baseman Nolan Arenado from the Colorado Rockies, a blockbuster that still needs various approvals but is expected to be completed in the coming days, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired starter Steven Matz from the New York Mets for three prospects, the teams announced Wednesday night.

The Mets are getting right-handed pitchers Sean Reid-Foley, Yennsy Diáz and Josh Winckowski in the trade.

The Yankees have added another bounce-back candidate to their starting rotation, acquiring Jameson Taillon from the Pirates for four minor-league prospects, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan and multiple reports.

Pittsburgh will receive pitchers Miguel Yajure and Roansy Contreras, infielder Maikol Escotto and outfielder Canaan Smith in the trade, sources tell Passan.

The San Diego Padres have acquired Joe Musgrove in a three-team, seven-player deal involving the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Padres will send Joey Lucchesi to the Mets and a package of four prospects to the Pirates.

Pittsburgh will also get a prospect from New York.

The New York Yankees are nearing a trade with the San Diego Padres for outfielder Greg Allen.

According to a report, New York will send left-hander James Reeves, 27, to San Diego in the deal.

The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired Jose Alvarado in a three-team trade with the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

In the deal, Tampa Bay sent Alvarado to Philadelphia, the Phillies sent left-hander Garrett Cleavinger to the Los Angeles and the Dodgers sent infielder Dillon Paulson and a player to be named later to Tampa Bay.
